Review: Sexy vampires, badass fight scenes, steamy sex…this story has it all. … ***This review may contain spoilers*** The story:  Humans have discovered a way to enslave vampires. In addition to being slaves vampires are also being used as lab rats in scientific experiments. Eventually there is an attempted vampire rebellion. The ones who are lucky enough to escape or have never been caught and enslaved live in clans hidden from humans. There is some difference in beliefs amongst the clans which results in hostilities and violence between clans in addition to hostilities and violence against humans. Riker: Riker is a vampire whose wife, Terese, was enslaved by humans and then dies. He hates humans, especially the Martin family who he feels is responsible for Terese’s death. Before becoming a vampire Riker served in the military and now uses those skills for his clan. Nicole: Nicole Martin’s parents have perfected the technique of enslaving vampires. Terese is one of the family’s slaves and serves as Nicole’s nanny.  Nicole has always loved Terese like a sister. When her family is killed in the vampire rebellion she begins to despise them. Riker blames his wife’s death on the Martin family and has been planning his revenge for a long time. When he finally comes face-to-face with Nicole Martin she is not what he expects and there is instant attraction between them. I really loved this book. There is something about a forbidden romance that I can’t resist. From the very first page I was drawn into the story.  The characters felt very vibrant and real, very believeable.  The events moved at a steady pace.  I never felt like things were skipped over or dragging on too long. There were a couple of surprises thrown in that I didn’t see coming which I loved. The chemistry between the two main characters was instantaneous. The sex scenes were hot and steamy. The fight scenes were just the right length, felt very realistic and described so well you could picture them. Overall a great book. Recommended for all romance and paranormal romance readers.  Five stars for Bound by Night.

The Farm

The Farm

expected publication date December 4, 2012
Rating: 5 Stars

Review: The Farm is a story about blood drinking monsters, known as Ticks, who are killing the human race and a small group of teens working as a resistance to destroy the Ticks while saving humans. The resistance believes that a girl with a special gift will be the one to save humankind from extinction. The re…sistance must travel to Farms, places where human teenagers are being held and used as a food source for the Ticks, in order to find and free the girl and gain her help. One of the people trying to free her is her old high school crush who she still has feelings for. It is set in present day society in the southern and midwestern United States. All I can say is wow! I absolutely loved this book! It has some of everything you could want. Blood sucking monsters, a vampire, a hot high school crush, saving humanity…The only complaint I have is that after reading the epilogue I was still left wanting to know how everything ends up for the individual characters. I hope this means there is a sequel.

The Husband List

The Husband List
by Janet Evanovich , Dorien Kelly
expected publication date January 8, 2013
Rating: 4 Stars

Review: This story takes place in the late 1800’s and revolves around a mother’s quest to marry her oldest daughter into an English titled family and her daughter’s attempt to avoid her mother’s plan while attracting the attention of her brother’s best friend who she has been in love… with for years. The mother does not consider him worthy of the husband list due to the fact that his family is from new money and untitled while their family is from old money. Although historical romance is not my typical genre I really enjoyed this book. The writing was modern enough to engage readers of today while still maintaining the period speak of the time during which the story takes place. The story was fun and easy to read and the only thing I found lacking was that the “sex scenes” involved mostly kissing and I would have liked to see more steamy sex. I would recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of historical romance or general romance novels. The Twelve Days to Christmas

The Twelve Days to Christmas

Review: The Twelve Days to Christmas is an easy-to-read story about a woman who finds out that her boyfriend is going to propose to her at Christmas while visiting her family but isn’t really sure how she feels about that or what her answer will be. This story highlights the importance… of trust, honesty and being yourself in a relationship. Though sometimes the story was a little predictable overall it was a very enjoyable read and I really liked Ms. Gorman’s writing. A great story for anyone who has ever felt conflicted in a relationship. This book was received for free through Goodreads First Reads.

The Marriage Merger

The Marriage Merger

by
Jennifer Probst

published July 30, 2013

Rating: 3
Stars

Review:
A fun and sexy read. Three stars.

The
Marriage Merger is the fourth book in Jennifer Probst’s Marriage to a
Billionaire series. This book differs slightly from the others in the series in
that it is more a marriage of coercion than a marriage of convenience. Otherwise
it follows the standard formula for this type of story: the couple gets married
against their wishes, ends up falling in love and lives happily ever after.
Despite the predictability of the story I never the less found it enjoyable.

As with many books written these days Probst adds a little bit of Fifty
Shades into her story which adds an extra bit of sexy fun.

What I didn’t
like. Sawyer. At some points his character was just too aggressive and seems to
pass from confident pursuit into a case of sexual harassment.

What I did
like: Julietta. Julietta is an amazingly strong female character who has
succeeded in her professional life but finds herself lacking in romance. In The
Marriage Merger Julietta is able to discover the elusive element that has been
missing from her love life.

I was really torn about how I felt about
this book. Overall I enjoyed it but during the parts where Sawyer seems like he
is sexually harassing Julietta I had a hard time continuing to read. At other
times it was hard to put down. If you are a follower of this series you should
enjoy this book but don’t expect it to live up to the three previous books in
the series.

Shadow’s Claim

Shadow’s Claim
By Kresley Cole
Published November 27, 2012
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: Shadow’s Claim is the first in the new Dacians series. Trehan is a type of Vampire called Dacian that travel in mist and keep themselves unseen to other immortals. While on an assassination mission he sees Princess Bettina and recognizes her as his mate. In order to win her he must enter into a midevil tournamen…t but by doing so he must reveal him self to other immortals and may never return home.
I loved Trehan’s character. He is an assassin by trade. He is very protective of his mate but will do anything for her. He also supports her interests in a way she hasn’t had with her friends and family. Bettina’s character I liked a little less. She has gone through a trama and is working through it so for most of the story she is a scared and cowering person. Most of the Kresley Cole’s stories feature a stronger heroine so this was quite a change. This book is much longer than most of the books by Kresley Cole and although I liked it at the end it was kind of drawn out. Still, this book is definitely worth reading.

Review: In the forth book of the Lords of Deliverance series we are presented with the story of the last of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Reseph AKA Pestilence wakes up naked, surrounded by snow and with no memory of who he is or what he has done. Beautiful Jillian Cardiff finds Reseph brings him back to her remote …mountain home, where she has moved to recover from her demon attack, to help him recover and regain his memory.
Larissa has included all the things we love best about her books. A sexy bad-boy demon who finds his true love, smoking hot sex scenes and a chance for him to reform himself to a smoking hot baddie fighting on the side of good.
A must read for anyone who loves paranormal romance!
